Specialising in remote area fieldwork, Lynley has directed many rockshelter and open area excavations, archaeological geophysics surveys and site recording projects, as well as numerous community-focused ethnobotanical projects. Lynley also has long-standing experience in undertaking archaeological surveys, site recording, significance assessments, Indigenous consultation, and preparation of cultural heritage management plans. She is regularly engaged to undertake peer reviews of the work of other consulting firms and to provide expert advice in legal cases involving cultural heritage.
Lynley has formerly held research and teaching positions at the University of Queensland, Flinders University, James Cook University and the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, as well as having been employed as a Senior Heritage Officer with the ACT Government.
